What
levels of Alzheimer’s patients do you accept? |
|
|
There
are three tiers of Alzheimer’s disease, each
expressing the progression and degree of severity of the
patient’s condition. Level 1 reflects the early
symptoms of the condition while Level 3 is characterized
by the latent, more serious effects of the disease (If
not known for prospective resident, please consult
his/her physician).
We care for all three levels and provide hospice
care upon request by the family or relevant party. |

Is
Golden Haven a Secured Facility? |
|
|
Yes,
the entire facility is secured by a 6-foot perimeter
fence. Additionally,
we have an interior/exterior video monitoring system
that allows us to keep a watchful eye over all our
residents both inside and outside the facility
structure. Golden
Haven is not a “locked” facility.
We allow all of our residents to roam about the
40,000 square feet of floor space as well as the
perimeter pathways- so long as a resident is not a
“fall-risk.” |

What
are your visiting hours? |
|
|
We
are very flexible with visiting hours.
However, for security reasons and out of respect to other
clients, regular hours have been set at 10am-5pm, 7 days a
week. We encourage immediate family members to visit
as often as possible. Golden Haven also features a Hospitality Room,
which can be reserved by a resident’s family and
friends for the celebration of a special event. Additionally, we permit residents to go home with
family on all holidays, special occasions, or just to
visit. |

Do
you have a hospice waiver? |
|
|
Yes. It is a common wish for a person to want to stay in the
comforts of the home during
the last few months of his/her life.
With the newly integrated hospice care, Golden
Haven residents reserve the option to keep our care and
surroundings as “home,” even into the twilight of
their lives. The
focus of Hospice care is on quality of life.
Hospice care must be requested by immediate
family. Click

Do
you offer respite
(short-term) care? |
|
|
Yes.
Do you and your family care for a memory-impaired
loved one at home and would like to go off on a
vacation? Perhaps
you just want someone to care for your mother/father
while you go on a day-trip or shopping?
Or maybe you want to place mom/dad in a
residential care facility but want to see how they
acclimate to the environment before making a long-term
commitment to place.
All of these situations are reasons why Golden
Haven offers respite care.
Studies have shown that periodically exposing
Alzheimer’s patients to an assisted living environment
before a permanent move-in, can help ease the transition
from home to residential care.

What
is your caregiver to resident ratio? |
|
|
Our
care-giver to resident ratio varies by shift. On the
day-shift, which is the busiest, we have a 5-to-1
ratio. This is supplemented by 3 live-in-staff
with supervisorial responsibilities. Your loved one is thus guaranteed the consistent
around-the-clock attention he/she requires. |

How
many meals and snacks do you serve daily? |
|
|
We
serve three 3-course meals per day (salad/soup, entrée,
dessert). Snacks
are served between meals and before bedtime (3 per day).
Menu preparation as well as eating schedules are
adapted to each resident- this means that if you’re
mother isn’t an early-riser she doesn’t have to wake
up early for breakfast, and if she’s diabetic then
diabetic meals will be prepared accordingly.
Pureed diets, if required, are also accommodated. Our priority is to best serve our resident’s
comfort and needs. |

Do
you provide a doctor?
What about transportation to the doctor? |
|
|
Golden
Haven is fortunate to have three on-call physicians in Dr.
Lian Soung, M.D., Dr. Raghuoath K. Reddy, M.D., and Dr. Guido Abellera, M.D.
In addition, we have an on-call podiatrist and
orthodontist. If
a resident so chooses, he/she may keep his/her own
personal doctor. Golden Haven provides residents free transportation to any
doctor’s office within a 7-mile radius, except for
those requiring non-ambulatory assistance and/or
additional companion care due to difficult behavior. |
